Client Spotlight: Kind Club - Linden Legal Strategies |Business Attorneys For the New Economy

Today’s client spotlight is special. MegAnne Ford, the founder of Kind Club, is a child whisperer (seriously) who I had the pleasure of first meeting when she taught at my children’s preschool. Her reputation preceded her — parents spoke highly of the magical MegAnne who could calm the worst tantrum and brought the best out of every child. Fast forward a couple years, MegAnne took a leap of faith, left her school and opened Be Kind Coaching where she helps parents navigate the parent/child relationship. Around this time, one of her friends was looking for an activity for her young daughter and she reached out to MegAnne.

Always ready to accept a challenge, MegAnne formed Kind Club, a co-ed, inclusive social service club for elementary aged children with three simple rules:

  1. Be Kind to Myself
  2. Be Kind to My Family
  3. Be Kind to My Community

My son had the opportunity to participate last Spring when she rolled out the program beyond her initial group and he flourished!  When we learned that Kind Club would be coming to his elementary school, we were the first to sign up. This Fall, Kind Club will morph from an idea into a non-profit and I couldn’t be more excited to see where it will go!  Please read on to learn more about MegAnne and Kind Club.

Describe your business?

Kind Club is a weekly, co-ed, social service club designed for elementary aged children. We focus on developing positive coping skills, foster a growth mindset, and empower community service.

My favorite thing to do is show a child their potential and support them to get there!

How long have you been open?

6 months

What’s your favorite part about being a small business owner?

I love getting to play by my rules. For 14 years I served in someone else’s system, that I did not always agree with. Now, I’m allowed to create magic with all my gifts- for myself!

What is your biggest challenge right now? How do you hope to overcome it?

My limiting beliefs. I still am worried that I will not be “good enough”- I need to trust that if I show up ready to serve, it will happen! As my awesome coach says “Play big, Change the World”!

I’m working on it!

What are three random facts about you?

I have flown an airplane.
I have been a paitient in an Apache Reservation Hospital, in Arizona, for a spider bite.
And onions are my least favorite food.

Aside from your business, what are you most passionate about?

Cuddling and binge watching Netflix shows. I really feel that down time for me is precious. So I really fuel up by shutting down. Currently I’m about half way through Scandal.

What’s your favorite thing about RVA?

I love all the FREE fun! I love living in a town that puts on free community events all the time! I love being able to go visit the river and feel like I’m in a whole other city. This allows me to show my guests my great town and use the funds to enjoy all the great restaurants!

Best place to have coffee or meet a client and why?

I love Perk! Every time I walk in I bump into at least 4 people in my tribe! I also love supporting an awesome boss babe momma!

One office supply or biz tool you can’t live without and why?

My phone. Like, for real.

Favorite Richmond neighborhood and why?

The Fan…in the fall. Nothing beats walking on the sidewalk when the leaves are falling. That smell reminds me of college, fun and freedom!

What else would you like to share about yourself, your business or life in general?

I know I said that onions were my least favorite food. But the truth is…I HATE ONIONS. 🙂
